~~Character Information~~
Name: Aysa
Known Names: Aysa
Species: Human, Spirit.
Sex: Female
Age: She died at the age of 98, and has existed as a Force Spirit for several decades.
Occupation: One with the Force.
Physical Description:

Though now One with the Force, Aysa appears to others, when she chooses even to be seen that is, as she did in the last moments of her life, full colour and all. An old, frail woman cloaked in a brown hood which hides her eyes and reveals only her nose, mouth and grey-white hair as it falls down the sides of her face in braids, Aysa is not an intimidating sight, at least not by conventional standards. However, there is something more to her appearance, a result of both her status as a spirit of the Force and her own personal aura which emanated even when she was alive, which gives off the impression of strength, determination, and even power. It is not a visible aura, instead making itself known through the Force, but it is detectable by those who are not even Force Sensitive, such is its intensity. Powerful or not, this aura is mostly harmless and simply lends credence to any point Aysa wishes to make, backing up her words with a feeling of strength. She is missing her left hand, the loss of which contributed to her demise.
Personality
Though now One with the Force, Aysa still maintains her own distinct bitter streak in her personality. She is very quick to judge strangers, and will stubbornly defend these judgements until overwhelmingly proven otherwise; it is her lot in life, and death, to do so. Her feelings towards non-humans are of a tolerant nature, and although she is not dismissive of someone just because of their species, it can be a contributory factor to her overall first impression of them, and she is not afraid to point out inadequacies in others that are a result of their genes and biology, and yet state them as if it is their own personal fault. One example of this would be her attitude towards Wookiees or Trandoshans; the former she would dismiss as foolish due to their tribal system of law, whilst the Trandoshans she would class as little more than animals.
Despite being a member of the Jedi Order in life, Aysa was part of a particular sub-faction within the Order who swayed to more Grey Jedi tendencies in their beliefs and philosophies. Trusting in the strength of the individual to control the Dark Side rather than trusting in their ability to ignore its existence was a point which had Aysa falling out with many fellow Jedi over her lifetime, though as with everything else she defended her side of the argument stubbornly.

~~Character History~~
The story of Aysa began on the volcanic world of Sleheyron, a planet ruled by crime, particularly in the form of numerous viciously territorial Hutt clans. Born to a desperately poor pair of parents - young lovers who were neither capable nor willing to raise a child, particularly on such a harsh world, the baby was never truly loved by neither mother nor father; the latter even attempted to drown the child in his despair, only to be stopped by his partner for fear of discovery and arrest. Over time, the parents slowly conformed to the idea of raising a child, but any hope the baby had of growing up with two loving parents was dashed when she was abandoned in an empty warehouse near the docks in one of the planet's cities. The reason for her abandonment was that dock authorities had arrived at the warehouse and sought to clear it of any squatters. Her parents, two such squatters, snatched their closest and dearest possessions and fled - neither category included their child. Discovered by the guards, the child was taken to an orphanage and forgotten about by her parents, who assumed as much but did nothing to retrieve their daughter, instead opting to leave Sleheyron for the more promising location of Telos IV.

It was at the orphanage where the baby received the name 'Aysa', and she was raised there until the age of six, when she was discovered by a Jedi who had been pursued to the planet by a pair of Whiphid bounty hunters; the Jedi, a woman named Freya Kay, took the baby from the orphanage and attempted to bring her back to the Jedi Temple. However, moments after leaving the orphanage with the six year old's hand in hers, Master Kay came under attack from her Whiphid pursuers. Utilising her lightsaber and her abilities with the Force to their maximal effect, Kay was able to hold back the bounty hunters, defend herself and her young charge, and escape to her ship. What followed were what, in Aysa's later life, she would recall as her earliest memories. Sitting in the passenger seat of Master Kay's small transport ship, strapped tight as it rocked and lurched from the turbulence caused by blasting through the atmosphere at high speeds, Aysa watched as her protector spoke into the ship's comm, her voice calm and her expression serene despite the knowledge that they had dangerous company pursuing them. Calling the Jedi Council, Master Kay informed them that she was on her way with a 'Potential', and had not shut down the comm for more than a few seconds before the skilled Whiphid bounty hunters disabled the ship's engines.
Not wasting any time, the Jedi Master hurried the little girl to a secret smuggling compartment of the ship, and told her that, whatever happened, she was to stay in the compartment. The frightened Aysa did nothing but cry, but Kay pushed and prompted, demanding that she promise to remain in the compartment. A tearful Aysa nodded and agreed to do so, and a satisfied Kay shut the compartment door before turning around to face the airlock as the Whiphids' ship docked with her disabled one. Aysa listened to the gruff exchange which followed, culminating in a traumatizing event in which, after striking down three of the Whiphids' lackeys, Master Kay was disarmed and Force-collared, before being subjected to various indignities as the bounty hunters sought to defile their prize before finishing the job. Aysa, not understanding what was happening but knowing enough to be scared by it, kept her eyes closed and her hands over her ears for the whole time, but the young girl could not block out the unmistakeable sound of a blaster bolt being fired at point-blank range, nor the sound of a limp body slumping down to hit the floor.
When the Whiphids and their men had left, Aysa wanted to leave the compartment and find Master Kay, but even at that age she knew that the Jedi woman, the first to show her true kindness in all her life, was gone and that she had to fulfill her promise to remain in the compartment at all times. For two whole days the young girl sat in the compartment, too scared and too traumatised to venture outwards, even for water. So it was that when the Jedi located the transport, they found not only the abused and murdered body of their fellow Jedi, but also a greatly dehydrated and starving girl in the smuggling compartment.

Taken to the Jedi Temple and tested for Force Sensitivity, which she passed, Aysa's early training was incredibly unorthodox, as the Council felt it necessary to train her away from the other Younglings due to her early-life trauma. Her instructors and teachers needed to be radiate a constant stream of soothing and reassuring feelings towards the girl before she was old enough to control her emotions completely, and that simply could not be done if they had to cater for an entire class of other Younglings. It was this solitude from an early age which prompted Aysa to maintain it for the rest of her life, generally keeping to herself and only speaking to others when spoken to, and even then not necessarily in the most pleasant tones; as she was unaccustomed to socialising regularly, Aysa could only speak in truths, as harsh as they needed to be. This trend continued right up to the age of fourteen, and the Council began to fear that no Master would ever take her as their Padawan. That was before Master Nord Lamar arrived at the Temple.
The leader of a band of Grey Jedi Knights - Jedi who pledged their loyalty to the Jedi Council, but not necessarily to all of its teachings - who viewed it as being perfectly possible to harness the powers of both declared 'Light' and 'Dark' sides of the Force without corruption, and that it was down to the strength of the individual to control themselves. The Jedi Order of the time was far more liberal than its past incarnations concerning these philosophies, but overall the majority were still firmly against the use of what was perceived as the Dark Side of the Force; the band of Grey Jedi under Master Lamar were not and although this isolated them from several members of the Order, the Council continued to give them missions for as long as they continued to accept them. There appeared to be an unspoken agreement between the Council and Lamar's Grey Jedi which stated that, as long as Lamar did not try to actively recruit from the Order, the Council would not interfere with his group. Despite this, Lamar was drawn to Aysa and engaged the young teenager in conversation on her views on the Order; he asked her how she felt about the Council, the Code and other staples of the Order, but when she revealed to him that she was taught everything separately from the other students, the Grey Jedi immediately requested the Council grant her as his Padawan. Sceptical, but seeing there to be no alternative Master for her, the Council consented.
So Aysa became Master Lamar's Padawan, and she spent many years learning under him and truly acknowledging the Grey Jedi philosophy as her own. She did not see the Jedi Temple for years at a time, preferring instead to simply go wherever she felt the Force was calling her - this independence was encouraged by Master Lamar, but was not forced upon her as it had been under the Council, and it was this fact which made Aysa bitter towards the more 'orthodox' Jedi, though she would never openly declare her dislike for them. She also learned much from her fellow Grey Jedi, who accepted her without question and treated her and one of them. Eventually she had established her own clear view on what she felt the nature of the Force was, and stubbornly stuck to it, applying it to the customised trials which Master Lamar developed based on what his Padawan's greatest obstacles in learning were; Aysa passed the trial, and with Lamar's recommendation the Jedi Council sanctioned her Knighthood, though she made a point of declaring herself a Knight after passing Lamar's trial, and before the Council had sanctioned it. This seemingly subtle gesture was not lost on the wise Masters, but they had more pressing issues to deal with and so did not pursue the matter.

Despite no longer being his student, Aysa remained in close contact with Master Lamar, and often accompanied him in his travels; this changed, however, when he took on another Padawan - a young boy named Lestin whom they had discovered on Naboo. As such, Lamar's time was devoted more to the tutelage of this new student, and Aysa was forced to seek wisdom in solitude. For ten years she wandered the galaxy alone, following wherever the Force led her, until eventually she met up with Lamar and a newly-knighted Lestin, along with the other Grey Jedi Knights, at a Conclave on the planet Tatooine. The Grey Jedi met in the abandoned caves of a long-dead Tusken clan, and gathered around a fireplace to discuss matters of the Force, to exchange views that may have developed differently in the past decade, and to simply meet old friends. Aysa did not hide her bitterness from Lestin, who equally did not tolerate her rude tone; the two argued, but disguised it as a mere debate, though the Grey Knights were not to be fooled and soon an angry Aysa used the Force to throw a large rock towards Lestin; before the Knight could react, Lamar stepped forward and raised his hand to stop it, only for the force with which Aysa had thrown it to send it careening into his arm, breaking it. Guilt-ridden, Aysa attempted to make amends, but was dismissed from the Conclave by the other Knights.
She left the Conclave and set out, by foot, to cross the Jundland Wastes and head to the nearest depot for transport off the planet. When she reached the depot several days later she heard rumours of a large Tusken army marching across the deserts from the Deep Dune Sea, heading for the caves where the Conclave was taking place - it was rumoured to be an ancient burial ground strong in the Force and a sacred place for the Tusken Shamans. In an attempt to warn the Jedi, Aysa stole a speeder and drove to the caves as fast as she could, but when she arrived she found the caves overrun with Tuskens and the bodies of her fellow Grey Jedi impaled on pikes outside, left to dry in the sun. Though the count of bodies told her that about a third of them had managed to escape, Aysa's former master, Lamar, had not; she could see his arm still broken as his dead eyes stared down at her. Realising that he would most likely have survived and escaped if his injury had not undermined his combat abilities, Aysa planned to go into self-imposed exile to deal with the guilt. She did so, but remained on Tatooine and spent years observing the Tuskens, the Jawas, the Krayt Dragons and all the native life on the planet, comparing each to a different nature in all sentients. From this experience, and her reflections on Masters Kay and Lamar in comparison to the Twi'lek Lestin and the multi-species Jedi Council, rose her anti-alien prejudices.
Eventually she was hunted down by none other than Lestin who had escaped the doomed Conclave of Tatooine and had rejoined the Jedi Order proper. Disgusted by his survival, and even more so by his willingness to return to the teachings he had claimed to be enlightened to, Aysa demanded to know why he had tracked her down; his answer was that he believed he could return her to the Order as he had done. Aysa met this statement with the full fury of her lightsaber abilities, but in the end they were not enough and Lestin was simply the better duellist; he defeated her and, submitting to him, she agreed to at least return to the Jedi Temple and meet with the Council. The Council offered her a place in the Order, and despite rejecting it, a chance encounter with a youngling named Virilus convinced her to change her mind, on the condition that she be granted independence when it came to teaching her Padawans. The Council reluctantly agreed, and Virilus became the first in a long line of Padawans to learn under Aysa. As each student was taught the ways of the Grey Jedi, and how the Force is neither Dark nor Light inherently, and each became a fully-fledged Knight in their own right, Aysa grew in strength and power also. By the time her final student, Brye Freema, was Knighted, rumours ran abound that Aysa was the equal of any member of the Council in her ability with the Force, even if her saber skills were so-so.

Like most of the Jedi Order, Aysa fell into the trap set by Hitman, wherein her lightsaber exploded, taking her left hand with it. Her Force abilities contained and healed the wound, and she quickly cloaked herself and attempted to flee the droids that had been dispatched to finish off the disarmed Jedi. She managed to evade them for some time, but they eventually cornered her outside her ship in a hangar bay on the aquatic world of Mon Calamari. Using the Force with full fury, Aysa destroyed, crushed and decimated the platoon before her, not waiting around for reinforcements to arrive before hurrying onto her ship and taking off. Her thoughts went to the Force as her ship left the atmosphere, and she fell into a meditative trance in an attempt to see all that had transpired. As she did so, a lone droid which had snuck aboard the vessel emerged and fired at her; in her attempt to immerse herself in the Force deeply and quickly, Aysa had let her guard down, and the blasterbolt struck her in the heart, killing her instantly. However, by being in such a deep meditative trance, Aysa instantly became One with the Force upon her death, and her spirit lingered through the vacuum of space, before resting on the planet of Kryl.
There, she spent many years, lingering in the dark places of the planet, before finally settling on observing the followers of the one they called the Preacher, as they set about testing dozens, hundreds, of individuals in their cave network, using the Force to show them both their harshest nightmares and deepest desires. It did not please Aysa, but she watched anyway, observing the followers of the Preacher until one day, one passed their trial; Dirk Manix, the Prince of Bhosen IV. Aysa then felt a call she had not felt for decades, and never whilst One with the Force; the call to leave Kryl behind, and return to the galaxy as a whole.
